Thorvald was formed on November 2013 by Ahmad Mostafa (guitars and bass) and Ramii Mohamed (guitar and drums). The band's first idea was to combine Heavy Metal with Scandinavian folklore. Later, Amr Hossam joined the band to set the genre as Death/Black Viking Metal, then replaced by Seif El-Shazly to be Death/Viking Metal mixed with clean vocals.
